Getting Started
How do I download StrideLog?
StrideLog is currently in TestFlight beta. Once officially released, you'll be able to download it from the App Store. Visit our home page for the latest download information.
Do I need to create an account?
No! StrideLog works completely offline with no account required. All your data is stored locally on your device, giving you complete privacy and control.
What iOS version do I need?
StrideLog requires iOS 16.0 or later. It works on iPhone and iPad.
Using StrideLog
How do I add a race?
To add a race:
- Tap the "Races" tab in the bottom navigation
- Tap the "+" button in the top right
- Fill in your race details (name, date, distance, time, location)
- Optionally add photos and weather data
- Tap "Save" to add your race
How do I attach photos to races?
When viewing a race detail page:
- Scroll to the "Photos" section
- Tap "Add Photo"
- Choose to take a new photo or select from your library
- Photos are automatically saved with your race
How does weather tracking work?
StrideLog uses your race location to fetch weather conditions from Apple's WeatherKit service. Weather data is retrieved when you add or edit a race with a location. This helps you track how weather conditions affect your performance.
What is the Couch to 5K program?
Couch to 5K (C25K) is a proven 9-week training program that gradually builds your running endurance. StrideLog includes the complete C25K plan with:
- 27 structured workouts (3 per week)
- Alternating walk/run intervals
- Progress tracking
- Audio cues during workouts (coming soon)
How do I track my shoes?
To track shoe mileage:
- Tap the "Gear" tab
- Add a new shoe with brand, model, and purchase date
- After each run, update the shoe's mileage
- StrideLog will alert you when it's time to replace your shoes (typically 300-500 miles)
Data & Privacy
Is my data safe?
Yes! All your data is stored locally on your device using iOS's secure Core Data framework. We don't upload, sync, or share your information with any servers. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
How do I backup my data?
Your StrideLog data is automatically included in your iOS device backups:
- iCloud Backup: If enabled in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup
- Computer Backup: When you backup via Finder (macOS) or iTunes (Windows)
To restore your data, simply restore from a backup and reinstall StrideLog.
Can I export my data?
Data export features are planned for a future update. Currently, your data is accessible within the app and included in iOS backups.
What happens if I delete the app?
Deleting StrideLog will permanently remove all locally stored data from your device. Make sure you have a current iOS backup before deleting if you want to preserve your data.
Features & Functions
How are Personal Records (PRs) calculated?
StrideLog automatically tracks your fastest time for each race distance:
- 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon
- PRs are updated whenever you log a faster time
- View your PRs on the Dashboard
- PR badges appear on race cards in your history
Can I edit or delete races?
Yes! Tap on any race to view details, then:
- Tap "Edit" to modify race information
- Tap "Delete" to remove the race (this cannot be undone)
Does StrideLog track GPS during runs?
Currently, StrideLog is focused on race logging and training plans. Live GPS tracking during runs is planned for a future update.
Can I sync data across multiple devices?
Cloud sync is not available in the current version. Data remains local to each device. This feature may be added in future updates based on user feedback.
Troubleshooting
The app is crashing or not working properly
Try these steps:
- Force close the app and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Make sure you're running the latest version of StrideLog
- Check that you have iOS 16.0 or later
- If issues persist, contact support (see below)
Weather data isn't loading
Weather data requires:
- Location permissions enabled (Settings → Privacy → Location Services → StrideLog)
- Internet connection (weather data is fetched from Apple's servers)
- A valid race location
Photos aren't saving
Ensure you've granted photo permissions:
- Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → StrideLog
- Select "All Photos" or "Add Photos Only"
- For camera access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → StrideLog (enable)
I lost my data after an update
If you have an iOS backup from before the data loss:
- Delete StrideLog
- Restore your device from backup
- Reinstall StrideLog
- Your data should be restored
